Hot Rubber Applications

Service Description

Hot rubber applications are used for waterproofing concrete slabs that are typically over occupied space. It involves heating a specially formulated rubber material and applying it to the surface, which creates a seamless, durable, and flexible membrane that is resistant to water and other environmental factors.

The process typically involves the following steps:

  • The surface to be waterproofed is cleaned and prepared.

  • A primer is applied to the surface to ensure good adhesion.

  • The rubber material is heated to a temperature of around 300 degrees Fahrenheit, which turns it into a liquid.

  • The liquid rubber is poured onto the surface and spread evenly using a squeegee and is typically reinforced with fiber sheeting.

  • As the rubber cools and solidifies, it forms a continuous, seamless membrane that is fully adhered to the surface. This system is usually covered with a protection board suitable to the substrate that will cover it.

Hot rubber applications are a popular choice for waterproofing flat roofs because it is effective, long-lasting, and relatively easy to install. It is also a popular choice for waterproofing foundations, balconies, and other surfaces that require a durable and waterproof coating.
